Firms increasingly operate in uncertain and turbulent environments, where technological change and shifting societal expectations challenge their survival and long-term development. In this context, resilience and organisational renewal depend on firms’ ability to adapt, identify new opportunities, and transform their activities.
This ongoing research project explores how open innovation, dynamic capabilities, and intrapreneurship enable firms to respond to disruption and sustain innovation over time. It examines how firms develop collaborative relationships and create organisational conditions that support entrepreneurial initiative among employees. Particular attention is given to how these processes enable firms to sense opportunities, seize them, and reconfigure resources in changing environments.
Building on our findings, we are deepening our understanding of how these mechanisms interact across different contexts and time horizons. Ongoing research examines how external collaboration and internal entrepreneurial initiative support both short-term crisis response and long-term transformation, including the development of digital business models, participation in innovation ecosystems, and adaptation to broader societal challenges.
The project advances theoretical and practical understanding of organisational resilience by connecting collaborative innovation and capability development with crisis management and long-term adaptation. It provides actionable insights for managers and policymakers on how to design strategies and organisational conditions that enable firms to navigate disruption, pursue renewal, and strengthen long-term competitiveness.
